REGULATIONS THE INTERNATIONAL MUSIC IN THE GARDEN COMPOSERS' COMPETITION WROCŁAW - KRAKÓW 2010/11
THE COMPETITION
The International Composers' Competition MUSIC IN THE GARDEN is organised by the Art Gardens Association, the Botanic Garden in Wrocław, and the Botanic Garden in Kraków.
The competition is open to composers of any nationality. There is no age limit.
COMPETITION REQUIREMENTS
The theme of this year's competition is a work for soprano and orchestra inspired by TIMES OF DAY IN THE GARDEN.
Applicants should submit a composition for a 15-person string orchestra and soprano voice used in the form of a vocalise. The orchestra may be expanded to include the following instruments: flute or piccolo (one performer), oboe, bassoon, and vibraphone.
Duration of the composition: 10-20 minutes.
Submitted compositions must be unpublished, must not have been previously performed in public and also not have been awarded a prize in any other competition.
Each applicant may submit a maximum of three compositions.
PRIZES
The awards are as follows:
Main prize - € 3,000;
Second prize - € 1,200 ;
Third prize - € 800
Distinctions will be also awarded of joint value - € 2,000
Prizes will be paid out in Polish currency (PLN).
The jury reserves the right to alter the allocation of prizes.
RULES FOR SUBMITTING COMPOSITIONS
Applicants must submit three anonymous copies of each score. Mark each copy with an identical symbol. A CD with an audio recording must be attached to the scores (files .wav or .mp3).
Enclosed with the scores must be a sealed envelope which should be marked with the same symbol as in the score. The envelope should contain the following information:
name and surname, date and place of birth, gender, nationality, address, telephone (fax, email);
the title and duration of the composition.
The sealed envelope marked with the symbol must also enclose the following signed and dated declaration:
"I declare that this composition submitted to the competition has hitherto neither been published, nor performed before a public audience, nor awarded a prize in any other competition."
"In the event that I receive a prize or an award, in accordance with the provisions of the competition rules, I hereby grant authorisation for the gratuitous public performance of the composition within the framework of the competition prize-winners' concert, gratuitous audio or audio-visual recordings and the gratuitous one-off radio or television broadcast by terrestrial, satellite or cable networks."
"I also hereby consent to the gratuitous performance of the composition within the confines of promotional activities for Music in the Garden Composers' Competition Wrocław 2010/11."

The closing date for sending in applications is 30th November 2010.
The results will be announced by 31st December 2010.
The awards ceremony and the prize-winners' concert will take place on 26th May 2011 in Aula Leopoldina at the University of Wrocław.
JURY
The prizes will be allocated by an international Jury chaired by Krzesimir Dębski.
The Jury's decision is final.
CONCLUSION
Participation in the competition is synonymous with adherence to the above regulations.
Prize-winning scores are the property of the organiser and will not be returned.
